Our great RV trip of the summer started in Grand Teton National Park and we found some of the best things to do in Grand Teton National Park during the summer. What a spectacular way to begin a trip to many of the National Parks on the West Coast of the United States.

About Grand Teton National Park

Grand Tetons has inhabited humans for over 11,000 years, however it was made a National Park in the year 1929. Grand Tetons draws those looking for adventure, new experiences and wildlife encounters.

The park stretches over 45 miles in length. The Grand Tetons have been formed over millions of years via glaciers flowing and forming some of the ridges, but more specifically there have been three major earthquakes in the last 10,000 years that have formed the mountains and the valley below. There are 8 peaks that form the National Park, the highest peak named the Grand Teton. The highest elevation at Grand Teton National park sits as high as 13,770 feet.

The Grand Tetons is home to an abundance of wildlife that can be found among the varying regions; the alpine, the forest, the sagebrush flats and wetlands. There are over 61 known species of mammals among these areas. Imagine the large amount of animals you can encounter on your trip to the Grand Tetons!

Best Things to do in Grand Teton National Park

In addition to looking for wildlife, there are many other activities to be enjoyed in the park. Some of our favorites, included hiking in Grand Teton National Park among many of the trails. One of the best hikes in Grand Teton National Park is the Jenny Lake Loop trail, which is only 7.6 miles long and takes approximately 3 to 5 hours to complete. If you’re a hiking enthusiast and would like to do a more tough hike, try the Static Peak Divide or Cascade Canyon. Even better, get a permit, grab your gear and plan a backcountry, overnight hike.

If hiking isn’t your thing, plan another activity in the Grand Teton National Park, such as a scenic drive, biking, boating or camping. Don’t forget to bring your camera and binoculars! You’ll capture some of the best pictures of Grand Teton National Park.

Depending on the season you’ll be visiting the Grand Teton National park, you’ll want to be prepared by doing research ahead of time. You’ll need to understand what type of weather you’ll encounter, which includes bringing enough water, snacks and other items to keep safe while hiking, fishing or camping. This includes bear spray, bear safety is important!

After you’ve thoroughly explored the mountain range, drive towards Hwy 89 to Mormon Row. Mormon Row, is a row of six cabins that are still standing from the earlier settlers in the 1900s. The value in the property was seen in 1990 and are now preserved as a historical site.

The Best Views of Grand Teton National Park

If you’d like to see the best view of the Grand Tetons, drive to Bridger-Teton National Forest or the Snake River Overlook. If you have an RV and are interested in RV camping in Grand Teton National Park, there isn’t an area to stay within the park. However, the most scenic view offers RV boondocking in the Bridger-Teton National Forest. Please note, there are no hookups in the National Forest.

Entrance Fee

The entrance fee to Grand Teton National Park is $35.00 for a private, non-commercial vehicle. If you enter the park as a hiker, it’s $20.00. These passes are good for 7 days. If you plan to enter more than 1 National park, consider purchasing the Annual National park pass, ‘America the Beautiful’.

The nearest airport to Grand Teton National Park is Jackson Hole.

When to visit Grand Teton National Park

Overall, I suggest to plan to spend 3 to 4 days in Grand Teton National Park to experience all the best that the park has to offer. The best time to visit Grand Teton National Park is really any time of the year, although you experience the most activities in the Spring, Summer or Fall. Another wonder National Park to visit is Joshua Tree National Park in California. If you’re looking for a National Park in Canada to visit, Banff National Park is another one of my favorites.

Till next time guys!

PIN ME!

[7

post-703","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-family-travel
["GET
